Now, they want to bury education in Lagos State






Peter Bankole of Patito's Gang is putting his credibility on the line. He is

the head of the Comprehensive School Program that Lagos State is introducing.

By concept, the program is laudable. Teaching, Agriculture, Basic Technology, Film making, Programming, events planning and entrepreneurship from Senior Secondary 1, to stem the tide of attrition among students of Lagos State.

Where my worry begins is the amount of work that has been put into planning. How sufficient? To heighten my fears, big as Lagos State is, only 6 schools have been picked for the pilot project. They are aiming at 50.

Private sector is to be involved. I hope they do not drag banks into the scheme.

The idea is revolutionary and like all revolutions failure can be very costly.

Film making and events planning hold the greatest fear for me. Picture Nollywood stars as teachers in our schools and the attendant chaos. Programming is laudable but must be differentiated from Internet fraud.

Lagos State should tread carefully.
