Foreigners are not the cause of our Agricultural woes

Why Government chooses to chase shadows beats my imagination. If you

ask any perceptive teenager, the problem of Nigeria's agriculture, he will tell you it is storage and I add absence of processing.

That foreigners are buying at the farm gate is not the problem. Provide roads and access to the farmers and they would move their produce.

Seasonal provision of goods is the main problem. All season production is possible but alien to us. What we have is seasonal crops that are surplus in season and absent from the market when out of season.

Could the Government be embarrassed that the foreigners who buy at the farm gate export processed food to us?

Our Universities of agriculture and Governments have not been sincere in pursuing food security.

One of the reasons many Nigerians want to relocate abroad is because of hunger.

With the Universities of Agriculture in Nigeria, I believe a meeting between the town and the gown can put paid to our Agricultural woes.

It is a palpable shame that with our weather, we run to countries without a good weather for food.

How they do it is well documented but why we fail to follow suit is rooted in our politics and values.
