Soludo's 20- Minute Inauguration
The in - coming Governor of Anambra State and one time Governor of Central
Bank of Nigeria, Professor Chukwuma Soludo is planning a 20- minute inauguration with press coverage without the members of the public. He may have his reasons but I am not sold on this. He belongs to a Party and the Party has a hierarchy.
This is democracy and he needs more than good intentions to succeed. I am not privy to how Peter Obi and Willie Obiano handled such things but Soludo needs to be careful.
For all the grandstanding I have been hearing, Soludo does not appear frugal. If he thinks he can pull wool over the people's eyes, then he has got it wrong.
The public deserve to be present. What he gives them or how he entertains them is a different kettle of fish.
Democracy is not a one man show.
If he is not careful, he would bite the fingers that fed him and get entangled with technocrats who will further antagonize the people in the name of seriousness only to get entangled with needless controversies.
Much as he has good intentions, he needs a healthy dose of diplomacy and pragmatism to succeed.
He needs the people for by their votes he got there and by their votes he can remain in office.
From the way he talks, l just hope and pray that he will be properly guided by his sincere advisers, otherwise he will get it so wrong early and the resultant consequences will be so bad, his economic and administrative experience not withstanding.

ReplyDeleteLet us watch.
I think inauguration will be different from entertainment of guests, visitors, party members and the general public.
Interesting!
