Is PMB an umpire or a President?

Much as PMB is our leader under the constitution, I shudder at the primacy

given to him in deciding who succeeds him.

From BAT, ' I told Buhari, I want to step into his shoes not step on his toes'. From Rochas Okorocha, ' Buhari has promised to help me with my case with EFCC'.

Unknowingly, we are dressing our President with a borrowed garb. Neither the 1999 Constitution nor any party constitution gives the incumbent the power to pick a successor but this is the practice, the political class is foisting on the nation.

This trend is condemnable to say the least. Indiscipline is the root of corruption. It only leads to short cut which is never a sure way.

Under the rule of Law effort must be geared towards following the Law to the letter and not twisting the law according to the whims and caprices of the leader.

In all mordern societies, the example of the leader is key hence the mistakes of leaders are never taken for granted.

We need the best, we should painstakingly work for it.

When those in the forefront of leadership trade their courage for immediate gains, then they should not be trusted to uphold moral principles in challenging times.
