Was PMB a mistake?

Starting from PMB's missing certificate and his health challenges to his

performance in interviews can we go this route again?

Honestly the emergence of PMB had all the trappings of typical Nigerian way about things.

I still maintain that on his own, there is no way PMB would have defeated Atiku in an electoral contest but Arthur Nzeribe did say on Television, that  the story of the world is about one person always using another.

Indeed, BAT tried to use PMB, hence the heavy support. While, I do not want to fault Arthur Nzeribe on his thesis of one using another, my grouse is that even at that, there should be minimum standards.

A situation where a President would express doubt over national statistical figures on TV and then go ahead to recommend farming as a be all and end all is a low one for Nigeria.

I pray it never comes to this again. In 1984, PMB actually promoted Barter in the name of Counter trade as an Economic policy.

In future, PMB should serve as a yardstick to know who not to pick as a Presidential candidate.

The danger is that if he is the one most suitable for using, an encore may occur.

  1. In my own view PMB was never a mistake. That being said we have 3 different factors to review.
The first being the electoral policy. How much of this policy is in the interest of the populace. The present electoral policy in Nigeria is not people oriented, it protects the interest of the ruling class.
The second factor is what options were available to the people of Nigeria? There was no option other than propagation by the ruling class which took advantage of the material conditions of the majority of the citizenry.
The third factor is that if we decide to underestimate the importance of the former mentioned above how much did the people know about the choice sold to them? People make choices and some we wish we never did. But the fact is that when you get what you asked for you are no longer a victim.
I remembered during the campaign for 2015 general elections March 28 and 29, I mentioned in numerous fora that as weak and inefficient Jonathan may look it was a blessing in disguise that the incumbent lost the support of certain ruling class personalities, Nigeria was going towards the right direction being without those supports. Unfortunately, some of my close associates was In the verge of defriending me on different platforms.
Overall, you cannot make a change when you don't have a choice. You cannot make a change when you continue to support promoters of building of the wall that you want demolished.
My people have to make up their mind. If you want a change you need to be able to know what type of change that you need and it must be a change that you have control over.
