As we mourn Desmond Tutu let us note his legacies

The world like us is mourning another South African politician. Just like the

world mourned Nelson Mandela.

It saddens me that what the world said of Mandela is no different from what the world is saying of Desmond Tutu.

In both cases it is about their persons and their service.

How I wish Nigerian politicians will learn from these.

Many a Nigerian politician is typically brimming with brilliant ideas what stops them is what I cannot fathom.

The works of Lateef Kayode Jakande are indeed shining examples which many a new breed politician have refused to follow.

Nobody goes home with any earthly possession but legacies good or bad live on.

So many things in Lagos are named after Jakande even where the man himself did not lend his name to them.

Take the Jakande Schools for one. It is just the recognition of the people.

Time is running out but Nigerian politicians should realize that the more the number of rapacious politicians, the easier it is for a shining light like Jesus Christ, to emerge from the East, West, North or where else.

Like Desmond Tutu like Nelson Mandela it is not about earthly possessions but about worthy examples left behind for coming generations.

May they both continue to rest in peace as we await our example from home to the world.

  1. May the almighty God give Nigeria's politicians a change of heart. It's even doubtful if any of our modern day politicians knows what leaving behind good legacies entails as they tend to outdo one another in material acquisition.
