The example of Adokiye Amasiemeka

In very clear terms Lawyer, football Administrator, ex National team

footballer and Newscaster, Adokiye 'Chief Justice' Amiesiamaka, rejected his appointment into a panel to draw up a blue print for Nigeria's sports development.

I cannot claim to be more passionate about Nigeria's football than Adokiye. There is a crying need for the panel to be set up but Adokiye's reason for declining the offer is blunt but interesting.

Each time, similar panels were set up in the past, it was commentators who often condemned them wondering what happened to previous reports?

Like now, the feeling is usually that things may change but eventually they remain the same.

To that extent, Adokiye's rejection of his appointment is easy to understand. Systems often rubbish people who otherwise would have preferred to toe the path of rectitude.

Adokiye, I dare say is as informed as many to know how easy, it is, to fall by the wayside for valueless lucre.

Like Adokiye pointed out in his letter, he is too busy, not to serve Nigeria but to waste his time on a meaningless venture.

Perhaps, he knows enough to convince him that nothing has changed.

Indeed, I sympathize with Adokiye for passing up an opportunity to do something he would have loved doing.

Why not give the Minister, a benefit of the doubt?

The implications are too grave to be toyed with.

Should the venture go South, Adokiye's name would have joined the very long line of names of Nigerians who wasted tax payers money and their own time on ventures without good intentions.

But what if, things have really changed?

  1. I shared your view. He would have contributed his own contribution to the body of knowledge.

Where is the wisdom of the wise when the unwise are being celebrated.

    Many thanks
