Ondo state and Military Checkpoints!
I just cannot understand this. Residents of Ondo state are scared
stiff, that soldiers are off checkpoints. Not too long ago on a visit to Ondo state, I ran into one of the checkpoints. I was scared stiff.
It was night and the checkpoint was in the dark with a lone soldier. That it was a soldier did nothing to calm my fear.
How can there be a checkpoint in the bush and in the dark? There was no streetlight and the soldier had no light worth mentioning.
Today, the soldiers are back to their baracks and I hear the residents are very uneasy.
Security, in truth gives way to conspiracy. Governor Rotimi Akerodolu is not only a lawyer but a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
It beats my imagination how to reconcile this situation with the public posturing of the Governor?
The Governor is in the forefront of fighting open Grazing.
Now that the soldiers are off checkpoints, what happens if killer Herdsmen go on rampage?
I thought there was Amotekun? Is the fear, a creation of the Press?
A word for the distinguished Governor, governance starts and ends with security!
No amount of grandstanding will replace the security of the people of Ondo state.
My dislike for the military in civil rule, returned just yesterday. Not that I ever forgot how destructive, authoritarian rule could be.
I was in a public bus somewhere in Ikoyi and the Driver of my bus had a struggle for right of way with a military top brass close to a military facility.
I surreptitiously informed the driver he was in the jaws of the military and he should yield right of way to the soldier.
Remember, MKO and the mad dogs incident during IBB'S regime?
Sensing danger, the driver yielded right of way but too late.
The soldier pressed on his home advantage. He signaled the soldiers on guard duty at the gate to direct the loaded bus into the military facility.
The rest like they say is history. The passengers were discharged. The driver under supervision got us another vehicle and returned to face his illegal military music.
If this is what residents of Ondo state are clamouring for, then I wonder if Governor Akerodolu is for real?
Nigerian armed forces has always had their ways, instead of obeying laws, they take one way and when someone else does same they take advantage bully the driver and any passenger dares to intervene is in for it.These days one can't even pin point military from civilians that are armed kidnappers wear military uniforms to kidnap and commit all kind of havoc.
