Resilience as a national strategy

Daily I watch as the value of our currency plumets and with it a falling

standard of living. How do fixed income earners cope?

With an Economy deep in the throes of importation, a steadying dependence on used goods continue.

This surely is a time to seek out new opportunities. China is there and Turkey too could be useful.

When your pocket is depressed you draw up a fresh scale of preference. Some goods just have to be replaced and new goods sought.

In all this, where is Government? Fighting for it's head. E - Naira to escape the cost of printing Naira.

For long Government has been toying with the idea of just printing Naira. Now it is no longer printing but transfers.

Good enough like in the real Estate business, individuals look for settlements, put infrastructure and Government moves in for a cut.

While the informal sector is booming no thanks to the neglect of Government, Government is busy clutching at straws.

Kidnapping, banditry, BOKO HARAM , IPOB, Oduduwa are all part of the symptoms of neglect by Government and an attempt at surviving.

The solution is for Government to get cracking. Think of a way out. Not Tucanos. That is old stuff.

If Government needs help, they know where to go. There are enough egg heads to transform Nigeria.

What is retarding our growth is an absence of tact and an over reliance on chauvinism as opposed to statesmanship.

In the files of Government are solutions to most of our problems but wrong priorities stop us from thinking straight and getting along with the world.

Our image abroad stinks. How Abike Dabiri- Erewa copes is a mystery. Hers is one hell of a job. I really do sympathize with her.

  2. For me, every other thing revolves around thej statement "What is retarding our growth is an absence of tact and an over reliance on chauvinism as opposed to statesmanship" and we can resolve In just two ways

Government must be taken over by people who genuinely want the best for every Nigerian and Nigeria. They must who have the Will to reward good behavior and THOROUGHLY & GENUINELY PUNISH BAD BEHAVIOR irrespective of status/relationship/affiliation.

Secondly, Nigerians must realise that not everything must be about money, wealth accumulation and super profit seeking tendencies. World billionaires are made through cumulative normal profit generation. Of course this second condition is largely dependent on how transparently the first is carried out and the second will ordinarily fall in line.

Inflation, unemployment, depreciating currency, insecurity are all symptoms and realities we must deal with but only by addressing the fundamentals they are not the real ailments.

To address unemployment, we must become productive in large scope

Insecurity can only be addressed with guarantee of minimum prosperity for every Nigerian

Abike is just another politician leveraging our self inflicted woes to build personal wealth..... ...prosperous people and nation need to no image laundering

  3. I feel so drained, whenever l read about the degrading state of our economy. I have often times found myself soliloquizing on the state of our economy. That actually explains clearly the true meaning of oxymoron; suffering in the midst of plenty.

A million questions came to mind, how did we get here, who is bewitching Nigeria,Where exactly did get it wrong.Do we not have those with the wherewithal and capacity to transform Nigeria and lots more.

Rebuilding the image of our dear county is a big task , because it is obvious that, all stings here.Permit me borrow the words of the president of America ,Mr Trump. He said,"Nigeria is a shithole County. No matter how annoying and degrading it may sound ,we would agree as Nigerians, that there is no lie in what he said.

Nigeria is a country where illegality become legal and celebrated.Illegality is the order of the day.Doing the right this has become so strange and justice has been so perverted ,it is no longer the hope of the common man.Our institutions are so weak and practically every thing here is loop sided.

We can actually build a varile society. It is can be achieved. If only we can reset. We need to find answers to the question to give us guide and direction

We need the people to work hand in hand with our leaders.Good leaders should be able to influence the people positively. We must work together make Nigeria great again. The question is, can Nigeria be greatly again amidst the battle for separation?.

  4. Well said.

Those that have lead the country have no genuine interest of the masses only to serve themselves and their associates.
Is it a "rocket science" to fix local refineries?

Is it a "rocket science" to digitalize Port operations, encourage export to strengthen Naira?

It all wickedness on the part of leadership and their Political associate.
