Government in defence of Bandits
I hope it will come home to haunt government officials. With mouth
agape I watch and listen as Government struggles to justify banditry in the Northern part of Nigeria. This brings to mind an incident in the Idumota area of Lagos in the dark days of Military regime in Nigeria.
A woman was harassed by street urchins and it got the attention of government authorities.
The urchins were rounded up in their numbers and thrown into confinement.
For a time, there was sanity. The point is that until a well connected woman was touched, the government played deaf, dumb and undisturbed.
A time will come sooner than we expect when all those who are calling bandits businessmen would recant.
There are not enough jobs. The area is too large to be policed.
Believe me, soon these excuses will wear another toga when the unexpected happens.
Is it not surprising that Northerners are in power, dominate the security agencies and yet we have insecurity.
To what end is then their hold unto Power?
Perhaps they can borrow not only money from China, but sense to solve the problems of unemployment?
China may not want to help them, lest we become independent of their help.
Jagaban is their associate but he wants power to himself in spite of zoning and power shift arrangements in place.
Can Atiku help? Only if he would be placed in charge. But his headship of OBJ's National Council on Privatization is nothing to recommend him for headship of Nigeria.
In God's time we shall get there. For now bandits are criminals and remain a challenge to the government of the day. QED.
Hummmmmm Elder P, thanks for this publication.
ReplyDeleteI believe the FGN is planning amnesty for Bandits. Just to replicate the NDDC.
PMB created Ministry of North East Commission with N100billion take off cash in his first term in office as President and CIC.
It's is obvious that the amalgamation is not working as expected. When the Presidency is calling on CBN to devalue Naira to attract FDI. As against promoting export to strengthen Naira. Improve security, improve Electricity generation, reduce medical tourism, reduce education abroad/tourism etc. All these put so much pressure on Naira. When a Professor can't talk the truth.
We pray that God will do only what He alone can do to help the voiceless Nigerians. A bag of rice is N30k as against N7,500 in 2015.
Thanks indeed
DeleteIf it is formerly a secret, it's now an open secret that this particular government knows who the bandits are and are merely shielding them. It's however surprising that any government can be that callous. That is to know those calling so much havoc within the polity and still continues to to shield them. One good thing in the final analysis is that whichever hand their banana tree raises is used to beat itself.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sage
DeleteWell said sir, until an important person is affected the Nigerian govt will not sit up,there is no guarantee of safety anymore.
