Deja vous as PMB blames Middle Men for Hoarding
Education may not be all but it gives you a choice. As I reflect on the above, I recall with sadness the days of
breaking into warehouses in the name of fighting hoarding. The question is, "when you queue and collect and there is no replenishment, what happens next?' Scarcity. It is no rocket science.
My experience during my stay in my Youth Service Orientation Camp is that soldiers especially the lower ranks have contempt for education.
PMB may have a reputation for strictness but like IBB, he has a disdain for normative Education.
It is one thing to have chains of degrees. It is another thing to believe in your certificates.
The spirit of Boko Haram is pervasive among many Northerners, no wonder it is so intractable. Ask GEJ.
Counter trade in 1983 and today, with all the insecurity and declining Naira with a weak export base, our number one citizen is blaming middle men for Hoarding. Interesting!
In the days of IBB, he would assemble the best brains around. Give them a task and proceed to ignore their counsel. He was his own best counsel.
I do not know the complexion of our Economic team but certainly, they are not doing well at all.
In the University, I was taught that Savings is equal to Investment but in Nigeria today, it is not so.
Take your money to the bank, you will get next to nothing as Interest. Do we not need Investment? We do.
But PMB's Boko Haram Economics is do not save the money, invest it in a business by fire by force. Really!
Sir, the way it works is this: the banks stand in the gap. We can not all be entrepreneurs.
Some are gifted. The banks have people, trained to know viable businesses to a large extent.
Those who do not know how to organize a business, give their money to the banks in return for Interest, while the banks give the money to entrepreneurs in search of Capital.
Inflation cannot be raging and banks are receiving money in return for rates that are lower than Inflation rates.
Something does not add up.
Truthfully!!!!!

DeleteElder P, many thanks for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteOur leaders don't believe in doing things the right way. You mentioned Exports, how serious are we? Why is Nigeria importing fuel? Yet we are complaining Naira devaluation. Do we have any strong export commodity/product? How many Mega Watts of Electricity do we generate to promote industrialization?
Our leaders think managing national economic is by talk alone. Doing nothing, or doing the opposite of factors that promote productivity like baning Twitter Operations in Nigeria. Our CBN was Swift to block the accounts of #EndSARS promoters. But the same CBN could not block the accounts of Boko Haram financiers' what a shame. UAE could track Boko Haram financiers' but CBN could not.
Our government keep borrowing to finance annual budget. Yet them expect Naira to be strong. Our Information Minister said the borrowing are for Capital project. Please why can't government use PPP as against direct borrowing. Debt servicing is gradually becoming a heavy cost.
Who told Me. President we have increased our food production capacity? When farmers are being killed and kidnapped daily. Are farmers secured in their farms? It was reported last week that Nigeria list $40b last year due to insecurity.
We can only trust God for a better country/government come 2023.
Amen
