My thoughts on Abba Kyari

Abba Kyari is an individual. I am not surprised about the information

coming out on him.

I would rather we have a working Police force than a super cop.

With Nuhu Ribadu in EFCC and Dora Akunyili in NAFDAC, there is no difference with Abba Kyari.  Kyari may not survive this onslaught.

Individuals make up institutions but no individual like Abba Kyari should be propped up to be bigger than the Institution, he represents.

Our Police should be known for certain values. If a thousand Abba Kyaris represent the Nigerian Police so be it.

That Abba Kyari is a shining light in the Police is not a sign of strength but a glaring weakness.

For it to be a strength, we should have at least one Abba Kyari per state.

The unfortunate aspect of the Abba Kyari saga is the debacle of Nuhu Ribadu. Nuhu Ribadu, a serving Police Officer, humiliated his IG, Tafa Balogun.

Of course, it was the hand of Esau and the voice of Jacob. In due time, Nuhu Ribadu was humiliated.

That scenario, was a vote for a strong Institution and not fragile but apparently super human individuals.

There should be a due process for interdicting a serving senior Police Officer and this should cut across board.

To put some people on a special level where everything works is not a sign of strength irrespective of the results they produce because it is only a microcosm of the whole.

That we have the Abba Kyari situation is borne out of jealousy by those who feel marginalized.

If the Police can replicate the conditions under which Abba Kyari did wonders, so much the better.

The Police force needs to decentralize, trim it's numbers and let the State handle a larger part of their work, while they provide specialized services like those of Abba Kyari for more serious crimes.

A slimmer Force would be easier to fund properly and motivate sufficiently.

To avoid more Abba Kyaris, we need to do the needful: reform immediately!
