Physician, heal thyself

I feel uncomfortable, each time I think of the percentage of our Income that

goes into feeding. Then I ask, even with the many Universities of Agriculture in Nigeria?

Mayflower Ikenne, founded by late Tai Solarin used to supplement the food they eat in the boarding school with food produced by them.

Whereas, I believe one of the reasons behind the setting up of these Universities of Agriculture is to help us ensure food security, the Universities of their own, what proportion of their food intake, do they produce?

Even if I did attend a Nigerian University, I am at a loss over who reigns on our campuses whether it is the VC or ASUU?

The reason I am interested is to know who to address my appeal to, in respect of the matter at hand.

The technocrats have given us Universities of Agriculture, it is a crying shame that not only are we far from food security, the average Nigerian is hungry. 

No wonder Politicians find it easy to bribe voters with loaves of bread or grams of rice.

If we must choose wisely, let us learn to combat hunger using technology. Where else can we get the technology if not the Ivory Tower and our many Research Institutes?

While we are battling for Political relevance, let us note that Agriculture is on the concurrent list in our constitution and every state ought to feed itself without let or hindrance.
