Is Benue still part of Nigeria?

It was Senator Shehu Sani, who joked that, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State should join Southern Governors

Forum, while Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State joins Northern Governors Forum.

There is this saying that he who laughs last, did not get the joke.

To understand the Senator's joke, one has to understand the Senator. Although, he is a northerner, he does not belong to the All Progressives Congress.

He belongs to a Party that produced, the first governor to be impeached in Nigeria, Balarabe Musa of People's Redemption Party ( PRP). Thus he throws his shades not minding whose ox is gored.

Samuel Ortom, Governor of Benue State is of the opposition People's Democratic Party. He was formerly of the All Progressives Congress.

He is officially an enemy of Miyetti Allah. I understand Benue State is currently under attack. I do not care who is attacking them, but Nigeria still has an army and irrespective of what Miyetti Allah, feels, Benue State is for now still part of Nigeria and the army should intervene.

Samuel Ortom is constitutionally, the Chief Security Officer of Benue State, should the army fail in their duty to defend Benue State, then the Governor reserves the right to self protection.

In doing that, no man should fault his approach. Those who fail in their constitutional duty cannot afford to fault others for using their initiative in the face of grave danger.

For those who see a future in Nigeria, leaving Benue State to its own devices is no road to unity but disunity.
