Drumbeats of war. Are we ready?

Between 1967 and 1970, Nigeria fought a Civil war. The effects are still with us.

Today, drumbeats of war are

sounding. Where are the beats coming from?

They are coming from all over the country. For quite some time, the northern part of Nigeria has been restive. What, with Boko Haram and lately banditry in the North West.

Nigeria has six geo political zones and each has its own security challenge. The North East has Boko Haram. The North West, Banditry. In the north central it is the struggle between the locals and herdsmen.

The South has the menace of herdsmen in all the zones. It appears more pronounced in the South East and South West.

The South West and South East are clamouring for self determination. The South South is non committal.

Pray should war break out, it is a no brainer what the direction would be. Should the South West declare Oduduwa first. The rest of Nigeria is likely to face them, including the South East and even Boko Haram.

Two things would dictate this, a desire to reverse the economic gains of the South West and a desire for revenge by the South East.

Should Biafra lead the way, there will be a repeat of 1967 to 1970. The motivation would be to test the might of the Igbos.

For those who want separation, the only thing that can guarantee them success is for the Nigerian state to be fighting simultaneously on more than one front.

For that to happen Boko Haram has to be fighting as the bandits are kidnapping. Similarly, unless Biafra makes a declaration, Oduduwa waits and vice versa.

Failure to adhere to this will result in old cries of betrayal. For the South East, in terms of leadership, there is little or no problem. The South West lacks a visible leader to fire the first shot.

But why war instead of talk. It is because of the old saying that if you want peace, you prepare for war.

Those who make peaceful change impossible make violent change inevitable. The Nigerian state lacks a defined leader ready to lead a national discourse rather it is looking in the direction of Africom.

It is sad that in spite of Slave Trade, Colonialism and Independence, we are incapable of discussing and solving our problems ourselves.

How and when did we get here?

  1. Talking into or about Nigeria issue has been a communication of the deaf that involves a great deal of gesticulation, a great deal of reapitation and a great deal of shoughting. The truth is that the foundation is faulty. Those who laid the foundation delibrately did so to ensure that we don't rise in this part of the world and actualize the purpose of our creation. Unfortunately, we glory it, romance it, and refuse to confront it. As we all know, once a foundation is faulty their is nothing added on top that will not face the denger of destruction. We always pray to God to help but it's obvious here that their is vitally nothing remaining for God to do for us. We ought to understand that God who created us without our cooperation can not help us without our cooperation. We need to think as people and reason as human beings.
