Thieving Service Chiefs and insecurity

             Babagana Monguno

         National Security Adviser

It is no News that the National Security Adviser (NSA) has accused the out going Service Chiefs of pilfering

Security Funds. It is also no News that there is palpable insecurity in our land.

What is however difficult to understand is why the thieving Service Chiefs would be rewarded with Ambassadorial appointments?

PMB was once told by a British Prime Minister that Nigerians are fantastically corrupt. Now the Prime Minister will also add that our reward system is equally fantastically weird, if failure is rewarded with a sensitive appointment as that of an ambassador. What, pray are we trying to prove? Obviously, it could not be a sign that they delivered on their mandate.

A graduand who missed first class by whiskers may be feeling low while another person with a third class may be celebrated by his family for being the first graduate in his family.

Perhaps to PMB in spite of insecurity and all, they delivered on their mystery mandate hence their being made our representatives abroad.

I wonder the quality of service they will bring to their new job? Nigeria is indeed blessed with men of low morals and thick skins as far as accountability is concerned.

Pray, how will Nigerians in diaspora face their hosts and make meaning of many of the meaningless acts of our leaders?

Well, it will help to keep such Nigerians quiet, while they think of making Nigeria how it should be instead of the lost cause it appears to be now.
