Joe Biden, frail and new on the job as POTUS, is already talking of standing

for re - Election in 2024.

Whereas, I was wondering why our Politicians are already splitting hairs over 2023 in 2021?

Perhaps it is in their DNA. Well our Politicians should not rejoice too much because the US have strong institutions and traditions that can take care of megalomaniacs.

However, this job is not for the politicians alone. As we learnt from the #ENDSars protests, Government will be willing to listen whenever they see the determination of the people.

It was ex US President Barak Obama who posited and I concur, that the problem of African countries is not corruption but weak institutions.

We have many independent bodies but how independent are they? 

How reliable are our courts, the legislature and our Executive?

How many times have we held our leaders accountable for their acts while in office?

The Law is supposed to be blind but not so in Nigeria where Adams Oshiomhole said that crossing to the ruling All Progressives Congress means a forgiveness of all sins.

It may sound like a joke but dig up the name Timipre Sylva and remember his motley corruption cases until PMB ascended power and his relationship with Sylva made Sylvia whole and free.

Our Politicians and our polity still have a long way to go. With our determination, we will get there.
