Good Night, Bitrus!

 




              Sadiq Abubakar Daba


Yes Bitrus was his name in Cock Crow at Dawn. Finally he has succumbed to

the cold hands of death.

I am referring to Sadiq Abubakar Daba better known simply as Sadiq Daba. His death has been reported by many news channels, but I cannot pass up the opportunity to tell what I know of him.

He was among the veterans who made Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) tick.

Those where the days when everyone watched a single Television station and only the best programs got aired.

He starred along with George Menta his father in the popular Cock Crow at Dawn after the hit song by the sonorous Idoma crooner, Bongos Ikwue.

The program was about Agriculture and was well received. His acting was exquisite.

For long he had been battling with health challenges predominantly, Cancer.

Many a time there had been rumours of his death, with several denials from him.

His was a long expensive battle with death. He will be sorely missed for his indelible footprints in Drama and broadcasting.

He deserves immortality.
