The strike by cattle dealers

There is an Igbo saying "Ana enwe obodo enwe' which means some people

own the land.

It was late Sonny Okosun who sang the popular South African themed song ' Papa's land'. The strike by Cattle dealers will sure clear doubts as to ownership of Nigeria, between the South and the North.

I am not a soothsayer, so I will not comment on what the Federal Government will do.

However, should the North carry through their threat I will be very happy. The reason is simple. Nature forbids a vacuum.

Southerners will not fold their hands nor will they behave like Americans who threatened Arabs that should they refuse to sell Oil to Americans that they will take it by force.

In the end, the North will find a new market and the South will find a new market.

It may sound awful to the North to note that in the recent past, calls had gone out to the South to boycott Northern cows.

Embarking on strike is a way of helping those who had called for the boycott. Like I had posited before, these events are all welcome for in the end, we shall end up knowing our strengths and weaknesses. Having tested our wills and wits, then mutual respect will follow, but until then, the north and the South would be deluding each other as to who is gaining more from our bond.

My only worry is southerners soujourning in the north. Should thestrike end against the Northerners, those southerners may bear the brunt of the loss.

Should that happen, it will still be part of the equation as there are northerners living in the South too.

  1. We have been hearing about the strike, pls let is start, adi agwa ochinti na agha esugo.
But I don't know how and when the hearders became troublesome, from childhood I have seen them moving around with their cows and no one has heard any fight or killings, may be they have been pretending and now their matron is the president, they decided to show their clear agenda.
The best is for them to make peace and dialogue with Nigerians or adopt the modern way of ranching or trash this age old open grazing.

  2. I agree. We all need to look inwards and discover, or rediscover, our strength and weaknesses.

  3. I think they have another agenda in treating for strike, but one thing I am optimistic about the whole thing is that God has a better plan in all this, right from the emergency of PMB as president and all that followed, let's all wait and see it will all end,
