No to Lekki Toll Gate

     Governor Babajide Sanwo - Olu

Sometimes we humans, make what is

obvious look oblivious.

#EndSARS gave rise to Lekki Toll gate shootings. The shootings are yet to be unravelled and an order goes for the Toll Gate to be reopened.

The #EndSARS protests were revolutionary to put it mildly. The Youths of the nation spoke and the government listened.

Capitalists over the years do not joke with their money, but have we degenerated to the position where human lives do not matter?

Preparations are on towards 2023 Elections. Nobody cares that a lot of people are regretting voting PMB in 2019.

No one is thinking of salvaging the situation. It is a lost course, so onto 2023.

While the #EndSARS protests were on, the major preoccupation of Lagos State Government was the loss of revenue at the Lekki Toll gate.

It is sad and unfortunate that a lot of mischief went into denying the Lekki killings. What surprises me is the fact that the killings had the trappings of a premeditated disaster.

Many celebrities were tipped off. What the killings have shown is that some lives matter more than others.

Those who were murdered were the voiceless who had no one to tip them off. It was a concerted action and God is fighting for the nobodies.

The panels of inquiry set up as a result of #EndSARS are all almost silent. Life has returned to normal. The euphoria is over.

The question is was there any way the panels set up by the guilty bodies would indict the Government? Of course not.

It is sad that the Lagos State panel headed by a retired Judge of the Lagos bench, is allowing the Toll Gate to be reopened.

I know that Judges live not far from the Lekki Toll Gate. I do not know if the retired Judge is among those living close to the Toll Gate but I volunteer this, without Toll collection, traffic around the Toll Gate has been sane.

While the issues around the Toll Gate are unresolved, reopening the Toll Gate will ignite passion and bring the Government further infamy.

The time to reopen the Toll Gate is when the dead have been buried. But until, Sanwo Olu tells Lagosians how many people died and where their corpses are, there can be no burial.
