Femi Falana: approbating and reprobating

                      Femi Falana, SAN

Femi Falana SAN, is no doubt a sound Lawyer. It is on record that he once contested for Governorship of Ekiti State but lost.

What I do not understand about him is his inconsistency on issues. I know, it is said that Law is flexible.

This should not explain why Femi Falana, SAN would take one stance today on an issue and tomorrow he is turning 360 degrees. It is often said, that no man is a saint, but Femi Falana has so far not been found out to follow the highest bidder.

Sometime ago, the highly respected Lawyer of Blessed memory, Rotimi Williams, SAN, drafted a Finance  bill for the Joseph Wayas led National Assembly. Then Bendel State, challenged the Bill in court and leading their Legal representation was non other than Rotimi Williams.

Joseph Wayas gave him the full length of his tongue. There were more like that from the late Legal icon, but this piece is about Femi Falana.

Not too long ago, it was discovered, that in the past he had argued that the National Assembly could not summon PMB, quite contrary to his latest stance.

On Sunday Igboho, in one breath, he is saying that the Freedom fighter lacks the Constitutional right to give a quit order and that the Fulanis should sue him and in another breath, he is saying that the Federal Government cannot arrest him and I say, 'haba!'.

Today, he is saying the Federal Government should be held responsible for the killings by herdsmen. I hope tomorrow, he does not say, it is only the state Governors who should be held responsible.

I miss Gani Fawehinmi for his dogged fight against infringement on Human Rights.

Falana fights against violation of Rights, except that he needs to be consistent. Law may be flexible but one should be able to look before leaping. To run with the Hare and Hunt with the Hound, amounts to approbating and reprobating.
