The Never ending ASUU Strike

                       Bill Gates

The Federal Government is reportedly about to bow to the demands of ASUU. And I ask for when the next strike will

be?

We should take the bull by the horn and do the needful.

University education does not come cheap and it is not for everyone.

This idea of not being for everyone has nothing to do with class.

Time there was when a University degree is an open sesame for a job but no more.

What then to do? If it no longer guarantees a job so why bastardise it?

The thing to do is to fund University education properly and devise means of paying, for those who need it through loans, grants and scholarship, such that a University education will be focused on need and not on want.

While at that, the issue of unemployment should be tackled from primary and secondary school levels, such that pupils are made to understand the structure of the world and not just the local economy and how to fit in.

This will help on two ways. Firstly, the pupils make up their minds in time on a job or profession to pursue and secondly those who must go to the University learn to count the cost in terms of alternatives they are overlooking.

Thus, unemployment reduces and society becomes more productive instead of making pupils believe that without a University education they are nothing or they cannot amount to anything.

The art of making money depends not on the chain of degrees but the ability to passionately meet a need.

It is instructive to note that historically most of the inventors of yore had no degrees to their names and in current times, Bill Gates had to drop out from the University.
