Mo Ibrahim joins the fray against Nigerian Government's handling of #EndSARS

             Dr. Mo  Ibrahim

Each time, I think of the Mo  Ibrahim prize for leadership, I feel sad. I feel sad that Nigeria is no where near winning the Prize.

The criteria are not out of this world. They are not unattainable: respect for Civil Liberties, Care for the Environment and a healthy dose of anti corruption Measures.

What pains me more is that the prize is not a foreign prize but a local prize by an African for Africans.

When I remember that Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia once won the prize, I shudder more.

I know our leaders may not find the prize attractive, but the prize can do a lot for the image of our country.

Mo  Ibrahim, the Sudanese - British Billionaire has joined in condemning the way the Nigerian government reacted to the EndSARS protests.

For a man who began in Africa and made money as a mobile telecommunications magnate, thinking the prize should nudge African countries in the right direction, is not wrong.

However, he is deeply disappointed. Having put his money where his mouth is, can you blame him?
