The Story of Nigeria's power sector

Nigerian National Assembly Complex

Not too long ago, the News broke out of the collapse of the National Grid. That

was not the first and it promises not to be the last.

That may sound uncharitable in view of the agony that accompanies each collapse.

Well, there is a saying ' that those who fail to plan, plan to fail'.

The question is not even our failure to plan for a seizure of collapse, but surprisingly, our elaborate plan for future collapses.

Indeed. That is where the generator economy comes in. A one time Speaker of our House of Representatives once walked out on a committee session.

Make no mistake about it. The business of the committee was our never ending power saga.

The reason he walked out, was the question he asked in walking out.

What was the question? Here you have it free of charge ' what happens to the generator industry when you fix power'?

So there you understand why our power situation is a never ending story borne of national greed.

The generator sellers who are non Nigerians are so comfortable in their nefarious activities, that non other than a number four man in  Nigeria is comfortable and fearlessly doing their dirty job. Is that number four man still in the saddle? No.

The people in the saddle, are they on the take?

Anytime the power situation kills the generator industry, know then that new kids immune from greed are on the block but until then, know you that National Grid and National Greed are Siamese twins in the never ending epileptic power conundrum in Nigeria.
