Nigerian Government shows its rotten hand

Call it black Tuesday. The Nigerian government has shown its rotten hand in response to the protests rocking the

nation.

It is no surprise what the government is doing. The first law of nature is self preservation.

The government is worried like other people too. The government has for long been careless about their obligations to the people.

Like Chinua Achebe did write, the government has taken too much for the people not to notice.

The people have noticed, they are protesting. That the demands are rising is like the case of a Cancer patient.

The nation had been hurting. The people had been hurting.

The government has to take judicial notice of the state of decay in the country.

Unemployment is at record highs. Inflation is biting hard. Insecurity is rife and governance is uninspiring.

The foregoing is enough to make people angry. What makes the situation tense is that the youths who are most hurting due to dwindling opportunities and a clear absence of a promising youth policy are the ones most affected by Police brutality.

The hurting youths who through no fault of theirs are deprived and struggling in football and entertainment always end up being harassed by the people who are paid to protect them.

Elsewhere, young people make money and live expensive lifestyles. In Nigeria, where Internet fraud is rife among the Youths, every successful young person is a suspected fraudster.

The interesting part is that the Special Anti Robbery Squad that should protect the young and sundry is the squad that harasses the youths.

Internet fraud is rife. What is the connection between Internet Fraud and Anti Robbery Squad?
