#EndSARS and the tale of Northern and Southern, Nigerian youths

              General Yakubu  Gowon
The North is scared of the outcome of the ongoing nationwide protests.  Understandably, the northern youths are not like the southern youths.

While the northern youths are divided into the haves and have nots, the southern youths are united in feeling generally shortchanged by the system dominated by corrupt politicians and irrevocably dissatisfied with northern domination.

The northern youths give vent to their feelings through the voice of the pampered kids of the northern power mongers.

This explains why the fathers and their children are scared stiff of the outcome of the protests. It makes sense that those holding the long end of the stick do not want to give up what they have and those with the short end are crying foul.

It is sad that the northern hoi polloi are silent. Perhaps their silence is like that of the tenant hiding his feelings in an altercation between his landlord and a rival.

To show his hand while under the protection of the landlord is suicidal. But should the landlord lose out, then the tenant would find his voice and join the victory train.

It is sad but true that in spite of the best efforts of General Yakubu Gowon who turned 86 yesterday, the 37 years old National Youth Service Corp has not succeeded in bridging the gap between the north and the south.

More than ever before, I feel deeply committed to Southern Nigeria than Nigeria as a whole.

Until otherwise, I have no apology at all.
