A judicial Commission of Enquiry will go a long way in keeping our Police in check

Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed: Chief Justice of Nigeria

That our police have stirred the hornet's nest is not in doubt but nothing can compensate for their wrongs more than justice for their victims. The time has indeed come.

For long it looked like we Nigerians were helpless in the face of wanton misdemeanor from the Police and the government but like Chinua Achebe wrote in one of his several novels, the thief has stolen so much that the owner has become aware.

Nigerians had always been aware but now, they are seeking redress and redress they must get. The government should move beyond words and give life to a judicial commission of enquiry into the misdeeds of SARS from inception.

It will go a long way in assuaging the feelings of the people and boost our image as a civilized lawful entity where justice thrives.

For so long have Nigerians seen and regarded Nigeria as an entity where anything goes. With a judicial commission of enquiry civilization will come to Nigeria and Nigerians will know that for every crime there will always be a price to pay.

Not many would have thought that such a day was possible but Nigerians are Godly and with God, all things are indeed possible.

  1. Just like in any other country in the world laws are made to maintain order and prevent crimes. However, a law is neither effective nor efficient until its breakers are adjudicated. Police brutality exist worldwide but Nigeria can stand out regardless of her position as prejudiced.
