Where you there when Igbo Presidency was contentious?

Forty years after the Nigerian Civil war in spite of Reconciliation, reconstruction and rehabilitation, the question of whether the Igbo are fit to rule Nigeria is still contentious.

Let us go back memory lane. It could be argued that zoning is not in the constitution but Federal Character is

                 Yakubu Gowon
there. We even have a Federal Character Commission.

I personally do not believe that zoning is the best for Nigeria but at this stage of our national development, it is necessary.

If the Igbos are not fit to rule Nigeria, then they at least should be let loose to chart their course. Some people have even argued tongue in cheek that even at that, they will end up in self annihilation. If that be the case, then the United Nations must be nitwits to believe in self determination.

Fair is fair, before the advent of the white men, the Igbos like other ethnic groups ruled themselves, they are still the same people, time and tide changing nothing.

Those in doubt should think twice, the war ended decades ago, we can win the peace by seeing ourselves as one people desirous of changing the new Slave trade.

Let us pause to ponder. In the days of slave trade we were forced to flee our land to go and slave for others. Today, we are willingly struggling to go and meet our slave masters.

The interesting aspect is that in the days gone by, our leaders sold us to slave raiders. Today, our leaders are creating conditions that force us to want and beg slave masters to let us into their countries. What say you of Visa lottery?

The ruling class are not unmindful of their misdeeds, they only mask it with their bickering, even the Igbo question is part of it. Let it not further divide us, giving them leverage over us.

  1. They are still afraid of them, they raised the alarm of domination, when they saw many igbos in civil service and other areas of human engagement in this nation.
The three Rs is incomplete untill they give the igbos the opportunity to lead this country.
The Hausa's and Yorubas has tried, hence it a time to balance the equation,if they are sincere with the unity and progress of this nation as it is boldly inscribed in the coat of arms
