Thank God PMB is not a noise maker

 Presidential Spokesman: Femi Adesina

Vision 2020 is nearing its end and as if we have a hangover, another bottle has been introduced to steer us economically to 2050.

Planning in itself is not a bad idea. Even full ministries could be saddled

with planning. The problem is that we need to know where we are to know where we are heading.

Thank God PMB does not trust his voice enough to be a noise maker. I bet it has nothing to do with his missing certificate. It may even be more serious than his old age.

It is just not in his DNA. If only Nigerians were fully aware of this failing. PMB reminds me of the type of Commercial Bus Driver that refuses to engage passengers even when they seek answers as to the destination of his bus.

Tired of waiting for an answer, some fellow passengers will counsel that the driver be allowed to concentrate on the journey ahead. Maybe, PMB wants to be left alone to concentrate.

As a lover of history, I shudder to think what I will tell my children if indeed Nnamdi KANU is right on PMB. What makes me reason like this is why PMB refuses to engage the people.

I remember that before Umaru  Yar 'Adua became President, there were doubts about his health. Remember the phone call by Obj 'Umoru, they say you are dead'?

The events leading up to his death and the ascendance of GEJ should still be fresh in our memories.

What if history is repeating itself. I very much want to be on the side of history, should this be so.

If PMB were to be a noise maker, he would have attempted to drown our worries, like in the past of how Nigeria will be better than the US by 2050 but now that his voice is only for the discerning, we are spared that noise.

In the absence of noise, we can at least ask some questions. Planning is good but as Ken Blanchard says 'feedback is the breakfast of champions'. At least we deserve to know how well or otherwise Vision 2020 fared. The critical success factors or challenges before being saddled with yet another.

No, for all our challenges political and economical, the measured response is 2050.

Shouldn't we master our present in preparation for our tomorrow? Even the Holy Book tells us that sufficient are the problems of today.

I do not dislike planning but the challenges of today ought to be tackled if we are serious about tomorrow. This respectfully, I submit, we are just not doing.

  1. Exactly sir. In as much as we need to plan for the future, the present problems need to be tackled. May God direct us and our leaders to the right path to get things right
