How Uzor Kalu was run out of Abia State by T A Orji

                Orji Uzor Kalu

It is believed that in Politics there are no permanent friends but permanent interests. The way things quickly turn around in Politics is like shifting sands.

In 1993 one of the things that worked against The June 12 1993

Elections was the treachery of Babagana Kingibe. Kingibe was Chairman of Atiku's party. In time, he changed from Party chairman to Presidential aspirant, to Atiku's surprise.

As if that was not enough, the Social Democratic Party Primaries came down to a three cornered race among MKO Abiola, Babagana Kingibe and Abubakar Atiku.

In the end, MKO Abiola went with Kingibe as a running mate, leaving out Atiku.

Babagana Kingibe, upon the annulment of the Elections joined the government leaving Abiola in the cold.

Theodore Orji, though older than Orji Kalu by 10 years was Kalu' s Chief of Staff. Kalu floated a new party and T A Orji contested for Governor under the Party, Progressive Peoples Alliance.

In winning the election, he set a record as the only person to have won Governorship election while in detention. Indeed he was in detention he had to be released because he had to receive his Certificate of Return.

For a man who won elections from detention, things soon got rough between himself and his erstwhile Principal Orji Uzor Kalu.

Orji Uzor Kalu just had to vacate the state for Theodore Orji, very strange indeed.

Some day the whole story would be told.
