Olu Onagoruwa - The Attorney General whose appointment made Gani Weep

Late Gani Fewehimi and Late Olu Onagoruwa were in their life time very close friends. As Lawyers, they were both very brilliant.
Of the duo Gani Fawehinmi was more popular because of his activism. Olu Onagoruwa was also an activist but his activism was not as popular as that of Gani Fawehinmi.
As account had it that Gani who was Olu Onagoruwa's personal Lawyer was also named as Administrator of Gani's Will until both learned colleagues fell apart.
Olu Onagoruwa as Gani's close friend had on being approached by the Abacha junta to come on board, sought Gani's wise counsel. Gani advised him against accepting the appointment.
Seemingly convinced that Onagoruwa would heed his counsel, Gani travelled out of the country. While abroad, he heard of the announcement making Olu Onagoruwa Attorney General and Minister of Justice and Gani wept.
This prompted him to fall out with his bosom friend and change him as Administrator of his Will.
The first shocker Onagoruwa would get from the Abacha junta was that after accepting the appointment, before he left Lagos for Abuja, six Decrees were rolled out in his name.
In the words of Olu Onagoruwa in accepting the appointment, he had given Abacha some conditions among which was that, he would never be a party to any illegality and that he would always obey the law to the letter.
The question then arises, whether a coup is not an act of illegality? No wonder Gani wept.
