How Femi Otedola rubbished Farouk Lawan over Oil Subsidy

Femi Otedola

Some people sure know how to play politics. The one thing many Nigerians are agreed upon apart from Football is that Oil Subsidy is devious. PMB removed Oil Subsidy and nothing happened. This is the story of Gej and the removal of Oil Subsidy.
Nigeria is a big oil producer. Nigeria gets the bulk of her foreign earnings from Oil but Nigeria's refineries are refining next to nothing.
As if that is not surprising enough, oil marketers rip the government off through claims on Oil subsidy.
Subsidy because power supply is epileptic and many people rely on fuel for power for generating sets that have now become a necessary household item in addition to fueling vehicles in the absence of a reliable public transport system. With this status, seemingly to help the masses domestic pump prices are controlled.
However, when International prices ate rising the subsidies bear understanding but should there be subsidies when International prices are falling? Better still why can't Nigeria refine her Crude? Sure it is not rocket science.
GEJ attempted to remove Oil Subsidy and the populace went on strike.
The House of Representatives set up a committee to probe the Oil Subsidy mess and ended up in a mess.
As is customary with corruption probes, a lot of dirty practices were unearthed and big names were mentioned only for the Chairman of the Committee, Farouk Lawan, a member of the Integrity Group of the House and a fourth term member to be caught on video receiving Bribe in Dollars from Oil Mogul Femi Otedola.
Farouk Lawan

Femi Otedola's Oil company Zenon had been implicated and the Bribe was meant to cause his company's name to be taken off the list.
Lawan was rubbished but Otedola exonerated. And that was the end of the road for Mr Integrity. Apparently, Otedola was on a sting operation.
