RESIGN PMB, RESIGN!
President Muhammed Buhari
Since coming into office, PMB's stock has been under constant attack. Fate played a trick on him by way of his failing health. For a man who rode to power on the wave of anti corruption and personal integrity, the length of time spent abroad on health grounds did his stock, grave injustice.
Forget his brave talk of 'I belong to everybody and I belong to nobody'. Many a time, PMB tried to go it alone and each time failed until he cast his lot with Tinubu and Co to form a bigger party where his financial contribution was nothing to talk about.
Saying he belonged to everybody and to nobody was a piece of politicking which was in line with his acerbic character but totally in contrast with expectation for one who relied on the generosity of men with bogus means and less than sterling character.
While contrary to expectation, those who bankrolled his campaign were severely shortchanged in terms of political patronage, PMB was unapologetic in feathering the political nest of those he described as 'those who suffered with me' as if the suffering was what gave him votes or the Party ticket.
Today, the nation is sharply divided along religious and ethnic lines. Not that this is new, but what makes this worrisome is what the President is not doing to address it.
To make matters worse, the two political planks on which the President's fame rest are severely haemorrhaging: Anti Corruption and Security. The corruption is so near the President that to detect and detest it, all he has to do is make an attempt no matter how feeble to smell it and hurrah, he knows the details and the perpetrators.
For security, his Geo political zone is under attack. The people did not keep quiet. The people of his home state took the unprecedented step of calling the Governor and the President out. By the way, the state is not under the control of the opposition but the President's party.
Boko Haram in the North East and Banditry in the North West, not forgetting the nefarious activities of Herdsmen in the North Central, South West, South South and South East. For a President, from whom much was expected and from whom much is still being expected, I honestly think, now is the time to stop and think.
Economically, PMB has never been one to take half measures no matter how unpopular. So far, I am most impressed with his interest rate regime and his Rice policy. They are most commendable.
But those two pale into insignificance, in the face of mounting cases of corruption, insecurity and the refusal of the President to engage the people. Enough is certainly enough.
The President should cut his losses, save his face and his name. Please Sir, throw in the Towel. If ever, any Nigerian can do this, it should be you, a man of integrity and grit. Goodluck Jonathan conceded defeat to you, you should concede to Nigerians, for the sake of your honour and bleeding integrity.
Hmmmm, it's really time to stop and think. Things are falling apart. Nigerians are daily losing confidence in this government, there's need for a stitch in time to safe nine.

DeleteQuiet interesting piece I must say as well as commend its writer for a job well done. To me, and quite frankly, the only day I will cease to follow Buhari is when filling stations return to the horrendous past when fuel attendants became gods and anyone who refused to worship them was not ready to buy the premium spirit. As regards the general insecurity, I will put most of the blame on the sitting governors who feel the monthly security votes are for their pockets alone instead of using it to secure their states properly. Take Lagos for instance, everyone can still recall how hoodlums made Lagos their havens in the past until the governors swung into action and now everyone can sleep with their two eyes closed. Buhari will always remain my greatest leader ever because In spite of his dwindling health, he's been able to achieve so much especially in the improvement noticeable in the power sector and infrastructural endeavors.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your plain views
DeleteI earnestly wish you can move far away from this track and choose the track of empowering, inspiring and educating the young. Our future lies with them and as for all our politicians they are irredeemable
DeleteThanks for your advice.
